May We Never Lose Our Wonder

Bethel Lives albums are probably my most listened to Worship albums…pretty much all of the music from Bethel gets downloaded as soon as it comes out. However, I usually find a few songs on each album that I play on repeat and eventually I will get to the other 6 or 7 songs a couple months after downloading. I downloaded the “You Make Me Brave” album as soon as it was released and instantly played We Dance, You Make Me Brave and Forever a million times. Last night I was laying in bed, not being able to sleep and just had my playlist playing, not really listening to it. I was laying there just thinking and all of a sudden I heard these lyrics:

May we never lose our wonder
May we never lose our wonder
Wide eyed and mystified
May we be just like a child
Staring at the beauty of our King

These words caught my attention and I lay there listening to the song for about an hour on repeat. I thought about these words. As children we are so easily fascinated and in awe of things that are big, powerful, or entertaining. As adults we often lose than sense of wonderment at things that are big, and powerful. It just IS.

Wonder: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable

Awe: a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder

The Bible gives some really detailed and beautiful descriptions of God that if we really sat and meditated on I think we would find ourselves lost in wonderment of this being that we cannot see but can connect with.

“There was something in appearance like sapphire stone, the likeness of a throne. And upon the likeness of the throne there was a likeness of someone in appearance like an earthling man upon it, up above. And I got to see something like the glow of electrum, like the appearance of fire all around inside thereof, from the appearance of his hips and upward; and from the appearance of his hips and downward I saw something like the appearance of fire, and he had a brightness all around. There was something like the appearance of the bow that occurs in a cloud mass on the day of a pouring rain. That is how the appearance was of the brightness round about. It was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah.” (Ezekiel 1:26-28.)

“Look! a throne was in its position in heaven, and there is one seated upon the throne. And the one seated is, in appearance, like a jasper stone and a precious red-colored stone, and round about the throne there is a rainbow like an emerald in appearance.” (Revelation 4:1-3)

In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another :  “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. (Isaiah 6:1-4)

May we never lose our wonder. Take time to get to know God…The Bible is filled with these incredible stories of healings, miracles, visitations, signs, wonders and encounters that will fascinate, captivate and bring us to a place of wonderment and awe of this incredible Father we have in God, this incredible Savior in Jesus and awesome Holy Spirit to reveal God to us.

Never lose your wonder. Continue to connect with God and be in awe of this One who sits enthroned in Heaven and longs to show us all that He is. He is never ending, never beginning, always has been and always will be…that alone is enough for me to stand in wonder!

Faith like a child. Allow your heart to be captured by Jesus. Dive deep into the oceans of His character and His love.

May we never lose our wonder
May we never lose our wonder
Wide eyed and mystified
May we be just like a child
Staring at the beauty of our King
Fill us with wonder
May we never lose our wonder
May we never lose our wonder
Wide eyed and mystified
May we be just like a child
Staring at the beauty of our King

Cause you are beautiful in all your ways
King of Kings
You are beautiful in all your ways
Cause you are beautiful in all your ways
Just close your eyes
Just close your eyes, you’ll see him
You are beautiful in all your ways
Open the eyes of our heart to see you God

Cause you are beautiful in all your ways
Oh you are, yes you are
You are beautiful in all your ways
We give our lives to sing
You fascinate me
You fascinate us
You fascinate us, with you are
You fascinate us
You fascinate us
You fascinate us with your love
You are beautiful
You are glorious
You are beautiful
Yes you are
You are beautiful
You are glorious
You are beautiful

May we never lose our wonder
