…no more separation

Tonight I sat in my living room envisioning the horrific walk Christ made up to Galgatha where He died. I was overwhelmed and sat and bawled my eyes out for about 10 minutes, overwhelmed at the idea that Jesus went and carried all of my pain, my heartache, my disease, my shame, my hopelessness…all of these things from my entire life…and He did it willingly. He died a torturous death, hanging from a cross for hours after an entire night of being questioned, whipped, beaten, mocked, and stripped of any and all dignity. Yet, He did it and He did it willingly.

That is the part that is overwhelming me…Jesus went through all of these things, willingly. Jesus knew what He was getting Himself into! He knew what He came to earth to do! Jesus loves me (and you) and willingly took all of my “stuff” (and yours) and died in my (your) place. He died thinking about me (you). Jesus died because He was deeply in love with mankind and was willing to sacrifice His own life so that everyone had the choice to receive eternal life and be with Him for eternity.

The best part? Jesus rose from the dead! He defeated death, the grave, and the kingdom of hell! The war on death was won! The keys to death and the grave belong to Christ!

Revelation 1:18 “I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.”

He is alive! He was dead but is now alive! He died and when that veil was torn we were given full access to Jesus! Our sinful nature was nailed to the cross with Christ and we died with Him and we were resurrected with Him and received His nature! We received FREEDOM, MERCY, AND GRACE at the cross!

Nothing stands between us and Him any longer. We have an open invitation into the courts of Heaven! We have a reason to live, love, and celebrate!

This post is short and sweet and not super deep but I hope it encourages your heart!

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting?
Our resurrected King
Has rendered you defeated

Forever he is glorified
Forever he is lifted high
Forever he is risen
He is alive, He is alive!
